Moments are fleeting, I am enamored with capturing these precious moments with paint. My current body of work is focused on the circumstance of a personally significant and intimate interior space. This interior space is depicted at different times of day with different situations, some including the human figure, others not. My focus is on how natural light falls across an interior space and the objects within that space, exploring how these different situations can elude to emotive responses. The figures are positioned in such a way that their faces are hidden from the viewer, giving each painting a psychological circumstance. Each painting is inspired by an intimate moment in time. The compositions are purposefully manipulated in order for the viewer to feel as though they are within the space themselves.
My compositions are naturally lit which creates different color palettes and allows for experimentation with color. I am fascinated with how light falls within a space as well as across the human body. This body of work takes place specifically within a bedroom because of the sense of intimacy that is synonymous with that type of space. The space is kept anonymous to give the viewer the opportunity to see themselves within the painting, and allow themselves to feel what the painting is conveying.
